Open-source clinic workflow software

Clinic Desk

Clinic Desk is clinic software shaped around the pace and friction of day-to-day OPD work. The goal was not to mimic a hospital ERP, but to make visits, prescriptions, billing, and follow-up work feel lighter for smaller practices.

The problem it tackles

Medical admin products often collapse into generic dashboard thinking: lots of modules, weak workflow, and language that ignores how clinics actually run. Clinic Desk needed to feel operationally grounded while still leaving room for desktop delivery and open-source adoption.

Architecture

The key system decisions

01

Next.js + Electron delivery

The product keeps a modern web stack while still being able to ship as a desktop tool for clinics that prefer local-style usage patterns.

02

Workflow-centered data model

The surface area is organized around visits, prescriptions, billing, and queues rather than abstract resource tables.

03

Practical interface language

The UI tries to reduce cognitive overhead for reception and practitioner tasks instead of showing off admin chrome.

What matters

  • Framed the product as a clinic assistance tool rather than a mini hospital suite.
  • Kept the UI grounded in operational nouns that staff already use every day.
  • Improving the visit-to-billing handoff so front-desk work stays fast under load.
